"Not a peep"

Films: A Quiet Place (2018), A Quiet Place Part II (2021), A Quiet Place: Day 1 (2024)

Alias: Death Angels

Type: Alien

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: Slightly more than average humans.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: There is nothing more ominous than the sound of silence. As human beings, we strive for communication and maybe just a bit of noise. But now, it's time for us all to shut up. Because if we don't, they arrive. And they are very, VERY intent on silencing people forever…

History: Dubbed Death Angels by the public, these nomadic aliens came to Earth on the remains of their original planet, which somehow got blown up. Almost immediately afterwards, they laid waste to civilization, thwarting armies and forcing many into hiding. The real issue was that on top of being almost invincible, they could hear the faintest of sounds. You do something even remotely audible, they track you down in seconds, and you’re dead. How long can some people live in total silence as the aliens' murder-spree goes unimpeded?

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: One family actually manages to figure out the Death Angels' weakness, that being high-frequency sounds. This, combined with broadcasting that same sound across the world, ensures that the short, violent reign of the aliens can end sooner than later.

Powers/Abilities: Impenetrable armor, fantastic hearing, lightning-fast speed, and claws that can rip through metal like tissue paper.

Weakness: Sound in general pisses them off, but sounds of a certain high-frequency cause them so much pain that their face-armor unfurls, leaving them open to easy headshots. Also, they can't swim at all.

Scariness Factor: 4-Those weaknesses aren't the greatest, and it makes one wonder how they wrecked the whole world as opposed to just a couple continents, but aside from that, you will DIE if you get a Death Angel's attention. They look like insectoid wingless bats, have rows of sharp teeth, and will tear through EVERYTHING just to get whatever’s making the slightest noise. Combined with how they don't even eat their kills, it makes one wonder exactly why they even exist.

Trivia: -Initially, the first film was made to be a "Cloverfield" spin-off, but this was scrapped. Funnily enough, the Death Angels bear some physical resemblance to the monster from that film.

-A similar film that was released the very same year was "Bird Box", which was also about people hiding from sound-detecting monsters. The difference was that the monsters were never seen, and behind the scenes material showed that they looked like people with shrunken baby faces. Yeah, it kind of sucked.
